EMMS App

EMMS is encrypted clinical messaging for Canadian physicians. The messaging app on your phone wasn't built for patient data. EMMS is.

Most clinical messaging today happens on WhatsApp, iMessage, SMS, or email — because the secure tools available are slow, institutional, or non-existent. EMMS replaces that channel. Every message, file, and call is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves your device. Images never enter your camera roll. Nothing syncs to iCloud or Google backups. Servers are in Canada.

CLINICAL CASE BUNDLES

Group up to five images and up to five files — PDFs, documents, and more — with a title, context note, and voice note into a single case package, or send a text-only note with no attachments at all. Review images with pinch-to-zoom up to 14x magnification, brightness and contrast controls, and side-by-side compare mode with synchronised zoom and pan.

BUILT-IN REDACTION

Blur patient identifiers, redact sensitive regions, or crop to the area of interest before you send. Every annotation is applied permanently to the exported image so identifiers never leave your device.

ENCRYPTED CARE-TEAM THREADS

Group conversations with per-recipient encryption — each member receives an individually encrypted copy of every message and file. No shared key, no single point of compromise. End-to-end encrypted voice calling within the app.

WORKS WITHOUT THE APP

Need to send to a colleague who doesn't have EMMS? Secure Link lets you send encrypted files via SMS. The recipient verifies with a one-time code and views the files in their browser. No app install required, no account creation, no unencrypted attachments.

DEVICE-LEVEL PROTECTION

All app data is excluded from iCloud and Google backups. An optional app lock requires Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN every time you open the app. Screenshot and screen-recording detection alerts you whenever a capture occurs. After repeated failed unlock attempts, the app enters a lockout and lets you erase all local data.

THE ENCRYPTION

AES-256-GCM for files and messages. Signal-style Double Ratchet protocol for key agreement. Keys are generated and stored on your device — never uploaded, never shared with us, never recoverable by anyone other than the intended recipient.

ZERO-KNOWLEDGE BY DESIGN

EMMS does not analyse, monetise, or sell your data. No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no behavioural tracking. Phone numbers are stored as cryptographic hashes. Files are removed from the server once the recipient has received them.

WHAT EMMS IS — AND WHAT IT ISN'T

EMMS is a secure communication tool, not a regulated health record system. It does not replace your EMR or your obligations under PHIPA, HIA, PIPA, or your College's policies on personal health information. Document clinical exchanges in the patient's record the way you normally would. EMMS is the transport layer — your EMR is the record.

EMMS is published by Clean Slate Data Inc., a Canadian company incorporated in British Columbia. The app is intended for use by physicians and other regulated healthcare professionals. Users are responsible for ensuring their use of the app complies with applicable privacy legislation and the professional standards of their regulatory body.

SUBSCRIPTION

EMMS Monthly — $9.99 CAD per month. A 1 month free trial is available for new users. Cancel anytime during the trial at no cost.

Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same rate. Manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings.
