Ildango, the app for learning Japanese by hand

Japanese has three types of characters: Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji.

Many people stop at the first level, and they stop there even when they start over.

Ildango allows you to progress seamlessly from characters all the way to the JLPT within a single app.

You must write the characters yourself to truly retain them.

You write over 2,000 characters of Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji by hand.

As you trace the stroke order on the screen, the character fills in; you must complete the strokes to move on to the next one.

Each character comes with mnemonic images and explanations to help you remember its shape.

Reading Kanji is not the end of the process.

After completing the reading section, you write the same Kanji yourself.

This ensures you don't move on to a state where you recognize the character but cannot write it.

The questions are tailored to your current skill level.

The first twenty questions gauge your current level,

and after that, only slightly more difficult questions are selected and presented.

You cannot raise your grade by repeating only easy questions.

The structure is designed so that your score increases only when you master the level above your current one.

If you memorize words in isolation, they won't actually stand out in sentences.

Ildango presents questions by having you fill in the blanks in example sentences.

No matter which word you click on within the example sentence, its meaning and pronunciation appear immediately.

Grammar is also displayed in the same spot.

Once you read the sentences, the next step is the text.

One piece of Japanese writing is uploaded every day.

You might think it's a story you already know, but the stories often have twists and turns in the middle, so you end up reading to the end.

After reading and solving the questions, you can click on the words in the text to see their meanings and pronunciations.

It follows the order of reading first and then checking.

You can also see which answers others chose.

Ask again just when you might forget.

Getting it right once isn't the end.

10 minutes later, a day later, a week later, a month later.

Calculate the time when you might forget and bring it up again then. Even words you think you have memorized are checked again after 6 months and 3 years.

Since consistency is difficult to build alone,

compete with other learners in the Weekly League and

check your place in the Hall of Fame.

You can also use the gold you collect to draw characters and study together.

If you study and meet today's score requirements, your usage period increases by one day.

Scores increase when you answer questions correctly, and you can also earn points by watching short advertisements.

If you are subscribed, verified days accumulate, and your next billing date is postponed by the number of days you have accumulated.

Since verified days accumulate on the calendar, you can see at a glance how many days you have been using the service.

If you become curious about the exam,

you can take JLPT practice mock tests.

It features the exact same structure as the actual exam, covering characters and vocabulary, grammar and reading, and listening.

The questions are newly composed every time you take the test.

In addition,

you can look up meanings, usage, and example sentences in a dictionary containing over 20,000 words. You can listen to all words and example sentences.
