The prayers that make up the Rosary are arranged in groups of ten Hail Marys, called decades. Every decade is preceded by a prayer of the Lord and followed by a Gloria Be. During the recitation of each series, the thought is given to one of the Mysteries of the Rosary, which recalls events in the life of Jesus and Mary. Five decades are recited for rosary. Other prayers are sometimes added before or after each decade. The rosaries are an aid to say these prayers in the right sequence.

The Rosary started on the short thread:

The Mysteries of the Rosary are meditations on the episodes of the life and death of Jesus from the Annunciation to Ascension and beyond, known as the joyful (or joyous) mysteries, the sorrowful mysteries and the glorious mysteries. Each of these Mysteries contemplates five different stages of the life of Christ.

The 15 promises fall into the category of "private revelation", and as such they are a pious tradition, that a person is free to believe or not to believe.

Anyone who will serve me faithfully by reciting the Rosary will receive gracious thanks.

The Rosary will be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy the habit, reduce sin and defeat heresies.
